16 players under 23 years of age. Selected based on skill and athleticism, body type, maturity, coachability, understanding and knowledge of the game, work ethic and determination, sportsmanship, playing position, and a willingness to learn and improve. Our goal is to help improve the quality and standard of basketball in South Australia, whilst developing a future player-base for the 36ers. Read more about the Academy ยป

2007/08 36ERS ACADEMY
23 July 2007
The 2007/08 36ers Academy promises to be the most exciting in its' short but rewarding 3 year history.
For the very first time, the Academy comes directly under the umbrella of the Adelaide 36ers and with it, the resulting benefits of being involved with one of the most successful team in the National Basketball League.
The 36ers Academy's motto is the same now as it was upon its'implementation, simply:
To help improve the quality and standard of basketball in South Australia, whilst developing a future player base for the Adelaide 36ers.
Already Matt Sutton, the 36ers Academy 2005/06 Most Valuable Player, has developed through the Academy's ranks to become a regular member of the Adelaide 36ers rotation. Original 36ers Academy members, Brad Gerlach, Eik Burdon, Nick Hambour and Marcus Ng have all suited for the Adelaide 36ers, whilst Michael Zorich also tasted NBL action when commitments took him interstate last season.
The 36ers Academy for 2007/08 will be announced in the next few weeks and we will be attached to the 36ers website shortly. I am extremely excited to be back home and involved with the 36ers Academy and look forward to the upcoming season.
Scott Ninnis
Spadavecchia Academy MVP
23 July 2007
West Adelaides' Anthony Spadavecchia has been awarded the Brett Maher trophy for the Most Valuable Player of the 2006/07 Academy.
Coaches Kevin Brooks and Richard Hill were unanimous in their selection of the 'Spud', made all the more impressive having been a late inclusion because of injuries to other players.
Spadavecchia has averaged 14.9 points, 5.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds over the 2007 CABL season and leads his Bearcats into semi-final action against the Forestville Eagles at Wayville from 7.30pm on Saturday night.
The 36ers Academy congratulates Anthony on his achievement and wishes all competing CABL teams all the best in the finals.
